Haven’t had these in such a long time, still a big hit in my circle. One of my favorites.
- 1 Onion Rings: Peel the onions, and cut them across the equator into ½ -inch-thick slices; and separate slices into rings.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the water, ¼ teaspoon of the salt, ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, ¼ teaspoon turmeric and ½ cup flour; and mix well. Add onions to the mixture and toss to coat; let sit for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, stir together the flour, remaining ¼ teaspoon salt and a pinch of cayenne pepper in a large bowl.
- Place Coconut oil in a stockpot and heat.
- Use a tong to remove onions from the liquid flour mixture, letting any excess batter drip off, then coat thoroughly in the dry flour mixture. Repeat the first step of putting the onion the liquid mixture. Fry for 3 to 4 minutes, turning once halfway through, or until golden brown. Place onion rings on prepared baking sheet and place in a 200-degrees oven to remain warm. Repeat with remaining onion rings.
