Since ancient times, olive oil is always respected as being extremely nutritious and even mystical in some aspects. Olive oil is definitely one of those super foods that should be included in everyone’s diet. The best way to consume it is by using it raw (uncooked). The best types to consume are the extra virgin olive oils. But what if you go to the store to purchase extra virgin olive oil and it turns out to not be genuine?
This is not only a major possibility; it is an actual reality that has been going on for a pretty long time. There are quite a few brands that have been selling what is considered to be fake extra virgin olive oils. As you may have already guessed, it is an official scam by some of the most common olive oil brands. Many of them have been adding additives such as chlorophyll to regular olive oil to make it have the appearance of extra virgin olive oil.

Extra virgin olive oils are, by far, more superior to regular olive oils because they are made from the freshest olives, they go through less processing and use of heat to make them. This limited processing helps to preserve the mineral content within the extra virgin olive oils.
I personally do not use my extra virgin olive oils for cooking, that is a major waste. You can use the regular olive oils for this, not a lot though. Like we have stated before, the cooking of oils is not good, it makes the oils toxic. I use my extra virgin oils raw on my vegetables and salads. Italy is well known as the place for the best olive oils, yet this doesn’t mean that every oil from Italy is genuine. When you are purchasing extra virgin olive oils that are said to be from Italy, make sure they have the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) or PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) seals.
