Make and save this recipe, because you are going to need it for some other recipes that we will be posting soon. The two primary ingredients in it are allspice and cayenne pepper. The amount of cayenne pepper you add is up to your discretion. If you want to make your jerk seasoning spicier, like how I personally like it, then add more pepper. This recipe is a very powerful blend that is always good to add to your cooked meals; it really offers a lot of health benefits that you shouldn’t be missing out on. You can store this mixture by simply pouring it into an empty seasoning bottle.
Please note that the below recipe might be very spicy for some people.
¾ Teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 Teaspoon dill weed
1 Teaspoon cilantro
½ Teaspoon basil
1 Teaspoon onion powder (optional)
½ Teaspoon rosemary
¼ Teaspoon thyme leaves
In a blender (magic bullet works well for this, or others of the same type) blend the allspice by itself until it becomes powdery. Add the other ingredients and blend together. When blending the allspice only blend a small portion at a time so it blends properly.As we have previously mentioned, the two primary ingredients, in terms of taste are allspice and cayenne pepper. Everything else is good to also have but are not really necessary, especially the onion powder. You can always add onions separately to whatever you are making.
